Music Magazine Front Cover Research 1

The first music magazine I researched was Q magazine. As you can see Q has maintained its constant and recognisable house style. The familiar colour scheme of red, white and black, this allows the audience to recognise the magazine and its logo which will attract them more to it.
The colour scheme is very sharp, it is a very stand out front cover, this particular front cover has blue on which is a good way to attract themselves as this particular Q magazine will stand out from the rest. This is a good way to attract the audience as it gives the regular reader a change to the system. Also the magazine has a neat and tidy presentation used within the cover, creating a more mature, sophisticated tone. The use of red, black and white as the common colour theme and also the added blue allows the presentation of the magazine to appear tidy and fresh. This also allows the other colours within the page to stand out, as they are also important parts of the magazine.

Also this front cover has a sort of chilling theme to it, an almost sinister look to it, it does this by having dark images, such as the panthers and of the very attractive young lady without any top on "naughty" which is directly looking at the reader which is appealing to the reader as it attracts them to the magazine. Another good point with this image is that it is placed in the centre of the magazine so that full visual attention is given by the reader. Also the blackness of the image stands out from the background.

The big bold stand out text "LILY ALLEN" will automatically grasp the audiences attention as that is a name of a very recognisable to the audience as she is a famous singer. Also above the name it has a little text that says "sexy beast" and the sub text below says "& her WICKED, WICKED ways..."  this is a good play on word which will leave the reader hooked.

The magazine also still uses typical media conventions that most magazines have. This include the bar code  which is used to show the reader the price and the date it was released.
